Associated Press: Langevin Takes Contradictory Positions on Key Issues
posted by Campaign on 8/20/2006
Langevin has taken "seemingly contradictory positions on the war in Iraq, medical marijuana and stem cell research," according to the AP.
In an article dated August 20, 2006, the Associated Press writes:U.S. Rep. Jim Langevin is hard to pigeon hole. He has taken seemingly contradictory positions on the war in Iraq, medical marijuana and stem cell research. The article continues:
Lawless has tried to portray Langevin as a war supporter similar to Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman, who lost his Democratic primary earlier this month.
Langevin voted in December to reject a timetable for withdrawing troops from Iraq. He says now that was intended only to show support for the troops.
Meanwhile, as the Jennifer Lawless campaign continues to gain momentum, the Providence Journal profiles Jen here:
"If we want to stop what's going on in Washington, you have to elect real Democrats who are going to try to halt the Bush administration and the Republicans in Congress," Lawless said. "It's not enough to wait for Democrats to take back the majority. Too many Democrats have stopped fighting."

I was shocked and dismayed by the endorsement of Langevin by the NASW organization. As a result, I have refused NASW membership and have written to them explaining why: their endorsement of that anti-choice candidate who oppresses women.
Langevin no more

With only three weeks left, things are really heating up... Finally, a focus on the issues!! Langevin's time is up. People are starting to take notice, word is spreading, and the times, they are a changin'. I'm hooked on the energy of the Lawless campaign. Rhode Island is buzzing with the prospect of REAL DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP! Keep it coming...

It's time to get rid of Jim Langevin. He's a completely ineffective congressman who is out of touch with the district. As this post shows, he can't decide where he stands on many important issues. And on the ones where he actually has a position, his position is wrong (reproductive freedom, civil liberties, net neutrality, etc.) We gotta get rid of this guy. I'm voting for Lawless!
