Lawless Building Serious Momentum

posted by BPackman on 7/20/2006
Jen Doubles Fundraising Quarter, Hires Top-Notch Team of Giant-Killer Consultants
In an exciting week for the campaign, Lawless announced that she met and exceeded her fundraising goal for the most recent quarter and that she has put together an impressive team of campaign professionals as she works to win this race.

The Lawless team now includes media consultants Laguens, Hamburger, Kully, & Klose (LHKK), who not only recently brought Jon Tester to victory in Montana, but have also advised the DSCC, Planned Parenthood, and Debbie Stabenow to name just a few. Margie Omero, President of Momentum Analysis is the campaign’s pollster. Omero has worked for Tom Daschle and Richard Gephardt, and – interestingly – also was James Langevin’s pollster back in 2000. Robert Pilon, who most recently helped Matt Brown’s Senate campaign raise over $1.5 million, rounds out the consulting team as National Finance Consultant.

Lawless also announced that she raised over $110,000 last quarter! This more than doubles her previous best fundraising quarter and puts her with over $160,000 cash on hand. With contributions from over 600 individuals, the campaign is gaining serious momentum!

Get on board the wave of change!

Lawless > Langevin

Rich, thank you for your interest in the campaign! There are many policy differences between Jen and her primary opponent. Jen believes in privacy rights, whereas Langevin supports the PATRIOT Act. Jen supports reproductive rights, whereas Langevin has voted over 25 times against a woman's right to choose. Langevin stayed in Washington last year to vote for Tom DeLay's Terri Schiavo bill. Langevin co-sponsors the Flag Burning Amendment every year. Langevin is against the use of medical marijuana when doctors prescribe it. But beyond specific policy differences, Langevin has failed to be a strong leader for Rhode Islanders on so many other issues. Even when he votes the "right" way, he often fails to provide any real leadership.

I hope this helps, and feel free to contact the campaign if you have any
further questions or concerns!

Why not Langevin?

Jen, how do you differentiate yourself from Langevin? Do you have a quick summary available that describes this? I agree that Langevin needs to go after years of soporific identification with Washington.

Momentous momentum...

Impressive news indeed, but this quarter's fundraising success is not in the least bit surprising to me. The numbers speak for themselves, and Jennifer continues to speak out for all Rhode Islanders on the issues of education, marriage equality, reproductive freedom, and affordable health care (just to name a few). To those who missed out on last night's rally, her speech amazing. Jennifer IS a welcomed wave of change for the Ocean State, and I'm glad to see that she now has the money in the bank to bring her message of progressive democratic ideals to the forefront of Rhode Island politics!

Jen's everywhere!

I just wanted to say that I for one have definitely noticed the campaign's momentum. I see volunteers on the street dancing with signs everywhere--it's great! I also was at the rally last night, and Jen was absolutely fantastic. I can't wait to have her as my Congresswoman.

we need change!

WOOOOOOOOO. Go Jen!! I am definitely aboard that wave of change.

Jen's Rally

I just got home from Jen's Rally for Real Democratic Leadership, which was GREAT. This campaign has come such a long way from its inception, and tonight proved that! Langevin has strayed from his constituents and from his party...now IS the time for a real Democrat...and Jen IS the answer!!!!!
